Vehicle Description Thanks for looking at my ad.
I am selling my 1956 Continental Mark II.
It would be considered a great driver.
I have made 3-4 hour road trips without any issues.
I live on Central Coast in wine country and take the car for weekend trips monthly.
It is an original black California car with little to no rust car with the original 368 engine and transmission.
There have been minor upgrades for drivability with front disc brake conversion, Carter AFB carb, pertronix ignition, 17 American Racing Wheels.
It is lowered with a raked stance from the previous owner.
Front coils have been cut to achieve the stance.
Interior is original.
Seats, headliner, instrument cluster in great shape.
All chrome pieces on the car still exist and in great shape.
The undercarriage is in excellent condition with no signs of rust.
It was reconditioned/restored and painted in the 1970's.
So paint does have spots of cracking lacquer look.
I do have a lot of paperwork from the cars past dating back to the 60's.
Odometer says 26,000 miles.
All documentation shows odometer readings of below that number.
Previous owner said it is true 26,000 miles.
It is currently located in Paso Robles, California.
Pros:
Original black paint exterior with original white interior.
Car has spent its entire life in California.
It has been garaged at least back to the 1990's.
Engine is strong, no overheating.
Transmission shifts as it should.
All chrome parts are on the car and close to excellent condition.
There is not pitting in the chrome that can occur when its in the elements for many years.
Although modified, everything on the car can be brought back to original.
You would need hubcaps/wheels, air cleaner, and new front springs to bring the car to original ride height.
Runs and drives with no issues.
Main components operational:
all windows, gauges:
temp, fuel, oil pressure, headlights, turn signals, floorboard lights.
New Parts bought and installed in the past 2 years:
Fuel pump, tie rods, drag link, shocks, tires What needs work:
Paint and body is needed to take this car to the next level.
It does have dings/dents, paint flaking off trunk lid, original paint on top has the lacquer cracking look.
Interior is in good condition for being original but at some point restoring it should be considered.
Transmission pan leaks Some electrical required:
dash lights don't work Speedometer not hooked up, dash clock does not work Wipers do not work 1970's aftermarket AC does not work.
I have sent power to the compressor pump and you can hear it click on.
This is a rare car that gets a lot of attention at car shows.
I drove it to Hot August Nights in Reno, NV from the Bay Area and it was the only one I saw.
An episode of Jay Lenos Garage had a segment on the Mark II and mentioned only 600 of these cars are left running and driving on the road today.
I am selling this car because I drive my off-road trucks more.
I am about to have 4 classic cars/trucks in the stable and I've decided to part with this one.
